FDA Warnings Over Diet Pill Brands

Diet pills warningsThe FDA (Food and Drug Administration) – the organisation set up to offer protection to the consumer and ensure that goods are fit for public consumption have today issued warnings in connection with several (25 to be exact) diet pills that are easily available to buy online or in health stores.

The 25 products are not approved by the FDA – which is not unusual as very few non prescription diet pills actually achieve this status. The one notable exception is Alli

The findings of FDA testing resulted in a high levels of pharmaceutical ingredients in what are supposedly herbal and natural weight loss products.

The offending diet pills are:

Fatloss Slimming 7 Day Herbal Slim Miaozi Slim Capsules Slimtech
2 Day Diet 8 Factor Diet Perfect Slim Somotrim Supplement
3x Slimming Power 999 Fitness Essence Perfect Slim 5x Superslim
5x Imelda Perfect Slimming Extrim Plus Phyto Shape TripleSlim
3 Day Diet Japan Lingzhi GMP ProSlim Plus Zhen de Shou
24 Hours Diet Imelda Perfect Slim Royal Slimming Formula Venom Hyperdrive 3.0
7 Diet Day/Night Formula Lida DaiDaihua Slim Express 360

The FDA report has just emerged and so it is difficult to comment on any one of the above in greater detail.

Some of the ingredients that have been discovered in some of the above are Sibutramine (a controlled substance), Rimonabant (recently removed from the marketplace), Phenytoin (an antiseizure drug), and Phenolphthalein (a solution used in chemical experiments and a suspected cancer-causing agent.

Advice from the FDA

If you are using any of the above the advice is to stop taking immediately and consult your GP.

Dodgy Diet Pills

The aforementioned diet pills are in the process of an enforced product recall, this may take several months.

As usual it is the diet pill industry as a whole that gets tarnished by association – Diet Pills and Dodgy seems to be the phrase that the industry will have attached to it as 2008 draws to an end.

The Future For Diet Pills In 2009

The FDA has done the commercial world or over the counter market  and its consumers a massive favour – by highlighting  and actioning against the misdemeanours of the guilty it will allow the few that bother to seek accreditation to thrive and continue to offer and develop products that are both safe and effective.

If you are thinking of using a diet pill to help control your weight there are several products that  are both clinically proven, completely safe to use and offer you an outstanding chance of weight loss success
