Over half the adult population of Europe and North America are overweight nearly all diet related journals agree on. Many of us who either need or want to lose weight are running out of excuses for not following through on good intention.

The human body is not meant to carry excess fat – we are designed to be lean. Unless an underlying medical condition is present it is our lifestyles and our attitude that is the biggest threat to our health.

The fast food, fast living culture that has crept into society over the last three decades is to blame. Nowadays we have everything on tap – we do not need to fend for ourselves, for most of us the standard of living is the highest it has ever been. Produce is inexpensive and readily available – is temptation just too great.

This current generation of children has the highest obesity rate of any time in history. The future of the human race from a physical perspective does not bode well.

So why do we find it so hard to control our weight? Are we too reliant on creature comforts and the ease at which we can go about our lives.

Ask a friend or relative (or yourself) who has an obvious weight problem, what steps they have taken to lose weight. Most will have tried something – with the emphasis on tried.

Without wishing to be too blase – the art of losing weight is incredibly simple, it is more a question of attitude and willing. We currently have no shortage of exercise programs, diet plans and weight loss pills and supplements available for us to join or purchase. There really is no excuse.

In the media we are presented with countless weight loss success stories – these people who have lost vast amounts of weight are not super human, they are are nothing out of the ordinary. The one thing they all have in common is a desire to lose weight. If you are reading this and you are over weight have you a strong desire to lose weight or will you do something about it at a later date.

With so many weight loss products and plans available which one do you choose if you have been hit by the cold reality that you must take action now. The initial answer is nothing – well nothing yet! First you must get you head right – without the correct frame of mind and attitude you will most likely go about your weight loss plan or method in a halfhearted or doomed to failure mindset. You must realise that there is absolutley nothing that you can do that will cause dramatic weight loss overnight. Weight loss should be viewed as a mid to long term project – with weight control a part of your life and ongoing.

Train Your Brain

Possibly the best method for weight loss brain training we have ever come accross is to go out and buy a item of clothing that it two sizes too small – then try to fit into it. Then take off the item of clothing and hang in a place that will be one of the first things that you see every morning when you awake. This sounds simple and a bit condescending and many of you will not bother – but in reality this method and methods not unlike this one are very effective for motivation. You could enlist the help of a  professional dieting specialist and pay many hundreds of pounds to be told either this method or one like it.

You do not need professional intervention – just motivation and the right frame of mind.
